On Monday 7 December 2009 Conservative Party leader David Cameron visited King Solomon Academy. He met the headteachers and pupils from the primary and the secondary schools and asked them about the academy and told them he was very impressed with everything he’d seen and heard.

Commenting on what he’d seen, Mr Cameron said:

"I am delighted to be here at the King Solomon Academy - part of the ARK family of schools that have done so much to enhance the achievement of children in London. DC_0592

"I really admire all the hard work that Vanessa Willms and Max Haimendorf have put into making this school such a shining example. The success of King Solomon is testament to the school’s dedicated leadership, teachers and sponsors; and I am very pleased to be able to see the school in action and to meet the teachers and children who are working so hard."

-  Max Haimendorf interviewed by The Economist magazine on how schools can help pupils succeed

'If a child is with us from the age of three, we have an absolute responsibility for their outcomes at the age of 18'.

So says Max Haimendorf, King Solomon Academy's secondary school headteacher, in an interview with the Economist magazine in July 2009.

Mr Haimendorf argues that small schools and all-through schools can help students succeed and help teachers do a better job.
