Extended school

Extended day programme

A longer school day

The King Solomon school day runs from 8.30am to 4pm, Mondays to Fridays. The extended day allows additional time for English and mathematics as well as daily music and PE.

It also provides time for a richer curriculum, stimulating new interests and enhancing children’s cultural learning experiences.

Clubs

We run a variety of clubs from 4 - 5pm every day except Friday. Examples include cooking, drama, art, homework and a choir.

Music programme

This year we’ve had visits from artists, writers and musicians and had an African dance company perform at the school. We will announce any future visitors in due course. Each day we have a music lesson when we learn about songs, instruments, rhythm and musical notation. Every Friday afternoon, our Year 2 pupils work with specialist teachers learning the violin or cello.

School trips

The school is developing a strong relationship with its neighbourhood and we take the children on outings around our locality as often as we can.
If it’s needed, we will sometimes ask for a contribution towards costs of school trips, and parents are always encouraged to join us.
